Admission Requirements

For further information and help with funding sources please contact us at

(250) 758-5611

  1. Detoxification is necessary prior to admission, and no one is admitted unless he has been alcohol and/or drug free for at least three to five days (depending on usage, further detoxing may be necessary)

2. Once detoxed, the client must read our rules and regulations (please contact us for a copy). The client must be willing to adhere to these policies, rules and standards as outlined by Surfside Recovery House

3. The client must then contact us to set up an appointment for an interview. During this interview, we will discuss personal history, funding arrangements and answer any questions regarding our program. After funding arrangements have been confirmed, then Surfside staff will contact the client to arrange and entry date

Our Community Care License requires that all clients have a confirmed medical and TB (tuburculosis) test prior to entry and that we have a copy of this confirmation for our files. A medical exam is strongly suggested. We do NOT have medical staff on site, therefore, any medical issues WILL need to be under control, and attended to, prior to entry

If client is on prescribed medication from his physician (and it will be a maintained medication), then he will need to bring a minimum of a forty-two day dosage, or a repeat perscription that can be accessed through our liason pharmacy

We believe that it is important to immerse the client in the program as soon as possible in the first two weeks, therefore, a client WILL refrain from outside contact and issues unless there is an emergency

Admissions will be up to 11:00 a.m. Monday though Friday, unless special circumstances are involved and have been pre-approved by the Administration staff. Night and weekend staff will NOT be able to help with admissions, at which point, you will be asked to contact the Administration staff during the day

The guidelines for residents are set down to provide a positive learning environment for the program, as well as, a pleasant and harmonious living situation during their stay. All potential clients MUST be willing to abide by these guidelines and MUST meet all of our criteria. The Managing Director does have the right to refuse admission to any person they deem to be not suitable for our program
